Chandausi Court Directs FIR Registration Against Former Police Officers

A court in Chandausi has issued a significant order. It has directed the registration of a First Information Report against former Sambhal Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary and former Sambhal Kotwali in-charge Anuj Tomar. The order also includes unidentified police personnel. This action relates directly to the Sambhal violence that occurred in 2024.

Court Accepts Plea from Injured Victim's Father

Chief Judicial Magistrate Vibhanshu Sudhir passed this order on January 9. The magistrate acted on a plea filed by a man named Yameen. Yameen's son sustained injuries during the unrest. He alleged that police personnel shot at his 24-year-old son, Alam, on November 24, 2024.

The incident happened near the Shahi Jama Masjid area. Alam was out selling papad at the time. The complaint specifically names Chaudhary and Tomar. It also mentions 10 to 12 unidentified policemen.

Legal Representation and Police Response

Advocate Chaudhary Akhtar Hussain Sajeb represented the complainant. He confirmed to PTI that the court accepted the plea seeking the FIR. This legal step compels police to formally investigate the allegations.

Sambhal Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi responded to the court's directive. He stated that the police department would challenge the order. Bishnoi argued that a judicial inquiry into the matter had already taken place.

Background of the Sambhal Violence

The violence erupted during a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid. The clashes resulted in five fatalities. Twenty-nine police officers suffered injuries during the unrest. The court's recent order adds a new legal dimension to this tragic event.
