Delhi Police Traces 1,303 Missing Persons in Southwest District Under Operation Milap
Delhi Police Finds 1,303 Missing Persons in a Year

In a significant achievement for community policing, the Delhi Police's southwest district successfully traced a total of 1,303 missing persons over the past year through its dedicated initiative, Operation Milap. The recovered individuals include 434 children and 869 adults, reuniting them with their families.

Sustained Efforts Yield Results in December

The momentum of the operation continued through the final month of the year, with police teams tracing 102 missing persons in December alone. This monthly figure comprised 35 children and 67 adults, showcasing the sustained and focused efforts of the district police throughout the year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Amit Goel detailed the multi-pronged strategy employed. He highlighted that local informers were instrumental in the success. Furthermore, police meticulously checked records from nearby police stations and hospitals. A key tactic involved displaying photographs of the missing individuals at major transport hubs across the district to generate public leads.

Key Police Stations Leading the Recovery

An analysis of the December data reveals which police stations were most active in tracing missing children. The Kapashera police station led the effort by finding 12 missing children, all of whom were girls. Following closely, the Sagarpur police station traced eight children, which included two boys and six girls. The Palam Village police station successfully located four children, comprising two boys and two girls.

When it came to missing adults in December, Sagarpur police again registered the highest number of recoveries. They traced 16 missing adults, a group made up of four men and twelve women. The Kapashera police traced five missing adults, while Palam Village and Vasant Kunj South police stations also contributed to the adult recovery tally for the month.

District-Wide Collaborative Success

The success of Operation Milap was not limited to a few stations. Police teams from across the southwest district participated in the year-long mission. Personnel from Vasant Kunj North, Kishangarh, R.K. Puram, Sarojini Nagar, S.J. Enclave, South Campus, and Delhi Cantt areas played crucial roles in tracing the remaining missing persons, demonstrating a coordinated district-wide approach.

This large-scale tracing operation underscores the Delhi Police's commitment to leveraging local intelligence and systematic investigation methods. The focus on vulnerable groups, especially children, and the use of public spaces like auto-rickshaw stands, e-rickshaw stands, bus stands, and railway stations for awareness campaigns proved to be effective components of the strategy. The results offer a measure of relief to numerous families and highlight the importance of persistent, community-focused police work in addressing the critical issue of missing persons.
