Delhi Police Rescues Kidnapped Child, Smashes Trafficking Network

Delhi Police has achieved a major breakthrough by dismantling a human trafficking operation. Officers successfully rescued a five-year-old boy from kidnappers aboard a train at Kanpur Central railway station. The dramatic operation unfolded after the child's father reported him missing earlier this month.

Accused Planned to Sell Child for One Lakh Rupees

Additional Commissioner of Police Bhisham Singh revealed disturbing details about the case. The accused individuals, identified as Ranjeet Shah (29) and a woman named Kajal, both hail from Khagaria in Bihar. Police investigations uncovered their sinister plan to sell the kidnapped child in Kolkata for a sum of one lakh rupees.

The investigation commenced on January 9 when Mohammad Sahid, the boy's father, filed a missing person report in the Subhash Place area of Delhi. Authorities immediately sprang into action, forming multiple specialized teams to track down the child.

Technical Surveillance and Coordinated Operations

Under the supervision of Additional DCP Sikandar Singh, investigators meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the Shakurpur area. This crucial evidence led them to spot Kajal making phone calls near the crime scene. Through technical surveillance and local intelligence gathering, police connected these calls to Ranjeet Shah and traced his location to Bihar.

Delhi Police then launched coordinated operations across two states:

  • One team traveled to Bihar and apprehended Ranjeet Shah from a moving bus in Khagaria district
  • Another team analyzed call records and railway tracking data to intercept the Vaishali Express at Kanpur Central

Dramatic Rescue on Moving Train

The railway team conducted a thorough inspection of the Vaishali Express at Kanpur Central station. During their search, officers discovered Kajal sleeping on a seat with the kidnapped boy beside her. Police immediately rescued the child and took Kajal into custody.

During subsequent interrogation, both accused confessed to their crimes. They admitted kidnapping the boy with the specific intention of earning "easy money" through human trafficking. The pair revealed they had traveled to Patna and Kolkata in their attempt to sell the child, even pretending to be his biological parents to facilitate an illegal adoption.

Police have seized two mobile phones used by the accused to coordinate their criminal activities. The successful operation demonstrates Delhi Police's commitment to combating human trafficking networks and protecting vulnerable children from exploitation.
