Delhi Police Tracks Sports Bike Lead in iPhone Snatchings

Delhi Police are tracking a suspected gang of criminals believed to be behind a series of mobile snatchings in north Delhi, with investigators relying on a sports bike as the only major lead in at least one of the cases. The incidents were reported from the Kotwali area earlier this month.

First Incident: iPhone Snatched Near Red Fort

In one case, a 25-year-old man’s iPhone was snatched by two bike-borne snatchers near the railway bridge behind Red Fort while he was returning home. The complainant, Anaf, a resident of New Seelampur, told police that he was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by his friend, Faizan, when the incident took place. According to his complaint, as they were traveling from Shanti Van towards Kashmere Gate and reached near the railway bridge, two unidentified men on another motorcycle came from behind. The pillion rider allegedly snatched Anaf’s orange iPhone 17 Pro Max and fled towards Kashmere Gate. Anaf said he chased the suspects but could not note the registration number of their motorcycle. He later called the police helpline and tracked his phone’s live location for some distance.

Second Incident: iPhone Stolen on Geeta Colony Flyover

In another similar case, a 21-year-old man’s iPhone was allegedly snatched by two bike-borne assailants in the same area. The complainant, who had come to Delhi from Raebareli for shopping ahead of his engagement, had visited Chandni Chowk with his brother. The two were returning to Khoda Colony on a scooter when, after crossing Shanti Van and climbing Geeta Colony flyover, two men on a KTM motorcycle allegedly approached from behind and snatched Deepanshu’s white iPhone 16 before speeding away.

Police Investigation and Leads

Police suspect the incidents may be linked and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the gang. The KTM sports bike mentioned in the second incident is considered a significant lead, as it is distinctive and may help trace the perpetrators. Investigators are also checking call data records and nearby surveillance cameras to establish a pattern. No arrests have been made so far, and the police have urged victims to report such crimes immediately and note any identifying features of the suspects or their vehicles.
