A 24-year-old food delivery driver was killed after a speeding Haryana Roadways bus struck his scooter and ran him over near Surajpol in Jaipur on Saturday morning, according to police. The bus driver fled the scene with the vehicle, and authorities are working to trace the bus and identify the driver.
Accident details and immediate response
The incident occurred around 10:30 am near the Galta Gate police station, triggering a traffic jam as a large crowd gathered at the scene. Police reported that the bus, traveling from Delhi to Jaipur, sideswiped the scooter, throwing the driver onto the road. He was killed instantly after being run over by the bus.
The deceased was identified as Vikas Kumar (24), a native of Suroth in Hindaun city of Karauli district. He was residing in Jaipur’s Mahesh Nagar area and worked as a food delivery executive, police said.
Investigation and ongoing efforts
A team from Galta Gate police station rushed to the spot, cleared the traffic congestion, and shifted the body to the SMS Hospital mortuary. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and gathering details of Haryana Roadways buses that entered Jaipur around the time of the accident. A case has been registered, and investigations remain ongoing, police said.
