A deputy tahsildar was found dead in a lodge in Karnataka's Hassan district on Thursday, in what police suspect is a case of suicide. The deceased has been identified as Manjunath, a 45-year-old officer serving in the Hassan taluk office.
Incident Details
Manjunath had checked into a private lodge on Wednesday evening. When he did not check out by Thursday afternoon, lodge staff alerted the police. Upon breaking open the door, authorities found Manjunath hanging from the ceiling fan. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
Investigation Underway
Hassan Rural Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident. Preliminary inquiries suggest that Manjunath was under stress due to personal and professional issues. Colleagues described him as a dedicated officer who had been dealing with work pressure for some time.
The body has been sent for postmortem examination, and further investigation is ongoing. Police are also questioning family members and associates to ascertain the exact cause behind the extreme step.
