Dindori Administration Executes Successful Rescue Operation for Stranded Labourers
In a significant humanitarian intervention, the Dindori district administration in Madhya Pradesh has successfully rescued 26 labourers who were stranded in Telangana for nearly three months. The administration not only brought the workers back to their homes but also ensured the recovery and payment of their pending wages, which amounted to approximately Rs 5.96 lakh.

The labourers, originating from villages under the Mehandwani block in Dindori district, had traveled to the Bhadrachalam area of Telangana in January for chilli harvesting work. According to their accounts, after completing the agreed-upon work period, they were neither paid their due wages nor permitted to return home. This left them stranded in a state of distress, with no means to support themselves or reunite with their families.

The plight of these workers came to light during a public grievance hearing held on March 31, when a family member of one of the labourers approached district authorities seeking urgent intervention. Taking the matter seriously, the Dindori administration swiftly constituted a joint team comprising officials from the labour, revenue, and police departments. This team coordinated extensively with authorities in Telangana to secure the safe release of the stranded workers.
With the assistance of a local voluntary organization, all 26 labourers were safely transported back to Dindori on Thursday. Upon their arrival, health check-ups were promptly conducted to ensure their well-being. Officials worked diligently to facilitate the recovery and subsequent payment of the pending wages, which had been a major point of contention.
