Dushyant Chautala alleges fund misappropriation by senior officials

Chandigarh: Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader and former deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala alleged on Monday that several senior officials and individuals linked to the state government were involved in the misappropriation of state funds worth thousands of crores deposited in three private banks. He claimed that despite the gravity of the offense, no action was being taken against them.

Suicide of government employee

Describing the suicide of a government employee, who allegedly jumped from the eighth floor of the Haryana secretariat, as unfortunate, Dushyant said that due to a lack of appropriate action, lower-level employees were under immense pressure and losing their lives. The former deputy chief minister emphasized that senior-most officials and individuals connected to the government were involved in the alleged misuse and embezzlement of thousands of crores of Haryana government funds deposited in private banks.

Disparity in accountability

Dushyant pointed out that while senior officials linked to the case had only been suspended or transferred, four mid-level officials had been terminated from government service and arrested. He accused the government of allowing senior officials to escape accountability by citing the need for official sanction before taking action against them. Meanwhile, no action was being taken against private individuals associated with the ruling party, who allegedly acted as intermediaries between banks and government departments.

He further claimed that the employee who lost his life on Monday was under investigation, while many influential individuals involved continued to move freely. Dushyant noted that three people had either fallen or jumped off from the Haryana Civil Secretariat building in the last few months. He urged the state government to take this matter seriously and demanded a review of safety arrangements across secretariat balconies.
