Fire at Secunderabad Plastic Godown, No Casualties

A significant fire erupted at a warehouse storing plastic items in the bustling Monda Market area of Secunderabad on Friday night, sending plumes of thick smoke into the sky. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any loss of life or injuries.

Timeline and Suspected Cause of the Blaze

According to police reports, the fire started at approximately 7:25 pm on Friday. Preliminary investigations point towards an electric short-circuit as the likely cause of the disaster. The blaze originated on the ground floor of a commercial building that had one additional storey above it.

Swift Response Limits Damage

Alert shopkeepers and local residents were the first to notice the intense flames and billowing smoke emanating from the godown. They immediately informed the fire department and police, triggering a rapid emergency response. Firefighting personnel rushed to the scene and deployed three fire tenders to combat the raging fire.

The stored plastic materials and other flammable contents helped the fire spread quickly initially. However, through the sustained efforts of the firefighters, the flames were brought under control. Their timely action successfully prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent shops in the densely packed market area, averting a much larger catastrophe.

Assessing the Loss and Official Investigation

An official from the Secunderabad fire station provided details on the extent of the damage. The affected unit was identified as a disposal shop. It is estimated that 15 to 20 percent of the stock was destroyed in the fire. Based on initial assessments, the financial loss is believed to be in the range of ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh, with expectations that the total will remain under ₹5 lakh.

Following the incident, the police have formally registered a fire accident case. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the short-circuit and the subsequent fire.
