CHANDIGARH: Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at the office of Congress MLA Balram Dangi in Haryana’s Rohtak on Saturday, police said.
The incident took place in Meham, Rohtak, around 1 am, police said, adding that efforts are underway to trace the assailants. No injuries were reported in the firing incident. Four rounds were fired, shattering the door glass and windowpanes.
Dangi’s office is located opposite the Meham police station.
Meham MLA Balram Dangi said he received a call from his office caretaker on Saturday morning informing him that the glass doors of his office had been damaged. He said he asked the caretaker to send photographs of the damage. After seeing the images, it appeared that firing had taken place, he added.
He said he subsequently informed senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police. The MLA said police later found that four rounds had been fired.
Senior police officers visited the spot and seized the CCTV DVR for examination. A police official said multiple teams have been formed to trace the assailants, and further investigation is underway.
