Kolhapur: The Solapur taluka police on Sunday detained four members of the main suspect's family and one of their neighbours for questioning in the murders of Gayatri Sudhakar Mhaske (40), her daughter Priya (17) and son Shivraj (15) in their house at Boramani. The detentions were based on a complaint by Gayatri's brother, who accused the family of having a role in these murders.
Police Investigation Details
Inspector Rahul Deshpande of the Solapur Taluka police station stated, "We are questioning these five people to verify their roles, if any, based on the statement recorded by the complainant, Dilip Chandole, a resident of Bidar in Karnataka."
The main suspect, who is Gayatri's brother-in-law, has evaded arrest and efforts are on to trace him, the officer said. The police have seized a sword from the house where the murders took place and suspect that it was used to kill the victims.
Motive Behind the Murders
"Our probe so far has revealed that Gayatri, a widow, was pursuing her brother-in-law to return the Rs 25 lakh loan she had given to him and was also asking for a share in the family's ancestral property. This appears to be the motive behind the murders," Deshpande added.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
