Four Individuals Arrested in Kurnool for Alleged HIV Injection Attack on Doctor
In a shocking case of premeditated violence, police in Kurnool have arrested four persons, including a woman and her two children, for allegedly injecting a doctor with an HIV-infected injection. The incident, which has sent ripples through the local community, was reportedly driven by a revenge motive stemming from a past romantic relationship.
Details of the Arrest and Accused
The accused were identified as B Boya Vasundhara, aged 34 and a resident of Kurnool; Konge Jyothi, a 40-year-old nurse employed at a private hospital in Adoni; and Jyothi's two children, both in their twenties. According to police officials, the arrests were made on January 24 following a thorough investigation into the disturbing attack.
Background of the Incident and Motive
Investigators revealed that the victim is an assistant professor at a private medical college in Kurnool and is married to Vasundhara's former lover. Unable to accept that her ex-partner had moved on and married another woman, Vasundhara allegedly conspired with the other accused to separate the couple. The plot involved targeting the victim by injecting her with HIV virus during a staged road accident.
How the Attack Was Carried Out
Police stated that the incident occurred on January 9 at approximately 2:30 PM, while the victim was returning home on her scooter during a lunch break. Near the KC Canal at Vinayak Ghat, two individuals on a motorcycle deliberately rammed into her vehicle, causing her to fall and sustain injuries. The accused then approached her under the guise of offering assistance.
While attempting to place the injured doctor into an autorickshaw, Vasundhara allegedly administered the HIV-infected injection. The victim raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee the scene immediately. Authorities noted that the infected blood sample had been procured from patients undergoing treatment at a government hospital, with the accused falsely claiming it was for research purposes. The sample was stored in a refrigerator before being used in the attack.
Legal Action and Police Response
The victim's husband, who is also a doctor, filed a formal complaint at the Kurnool III Town Police Station on January 10. In response, a case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 126(2), 118(1), and 272 read with 3(5). Police officials emphasized that this case highlights severe criminal intent and has been treated with utmost seriousness.
