Four arrested for murder of accomplice during Dumka robbery

Dumka: Four men were arrested for the murder of a 32-year-old man and a robbery near Jaipur More under Mohanpur police station limits of the district on the night of April 23, the police said on Saturday.

Details of the Incident

The accused, identified as Akram Samani (22), Shahzad Sheikh alias Golu (22), Shivam Kumar (24), and Rahul Kumar (25), had fired at Rajan Kumar Lal, one of their accomplices, while robbing a mini-truck near Jaipur More, Deoghar SP Praveen Pushkar said.

All five were members of a gang. Lal, SP said, was accidentally shot by one of the accomplices while he was scuffling with the driver of the truck which they were attempting to rob. The truck driver managed to escape taking advantage of the chaos.

Sequence of Events

“Lal, along with five others, came in a car and bike and intercepted a mini truck near Jaipur More at around 11 pm on Thursday to commit robbery. Lal and his accomplices also scuffled with the truck driver, when a bullet shot by another accomplice hit him,” Pushkar said.

The robbers then got Lal admitted to Dumka sadar hospital and fled. “He succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” he said.

Arrests and Recovery

“Four robbers have been arrested and attempts are on to arrest one more,” added SP. “We have also recovered one country-made pistol, one magazine, three live cartridges, one knife among a few others,” he said.
