Four members of a family from Dasuya in Hoshiarpur district were killed in a road accident on the Jalandhar-Jammu National Highway near Kishangarh around 5:30 am on Monday. The deceased were identified as Rupinder Singh (32), his wife Harpreet Kaur (24), their 18-month-old son, and Rupinder's mother Santosh Kaur. They were on their way to Jalandhar to catch a train.
Details of the collision
According to reports, the Sadak Suraksha Force (SSF) received information from a passerby about a collision between two cars near a roadside dhaba. Preliminary investigations revealed that a Swift car travelling from Bhogpur towards Jalandhar lost control after crossing Adda Kishangarh and collided head-on with a Hyundai Creta coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that all four family members in the Swift car died on the spot.
Injuries and investigation
The occupants of the Creta, a family from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, sustained injuries. Parveen Khan, one of them, suffered serious injuries, while the others were stated to be out of danger. DSP Adampur, Rajiv Kumar visited the accident site. The police have started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Officials said it is too early to determine what led to the driver losing control, adding that the possibility of an animal suddenly coming onto the road cannot be ruled out.
