In a swift operation, the Delhi Police arrested a gang member after an exchange of fire in the national capital late Tuesday night. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, a known criminal with multiple cases registered against him, was injured during the encounter and has been admitted to a nearby hospital under police custody.
Details of the Operation
Acting on a tip-off about the movement of a wanted gang member in the Rohini area, a police team laid a trap. When the suspect was signaled to stop, he opened fire at the police team. In self-defense, the police returned fire, resulting in the suspect being hit in the leg. He was immediately apprehended and provided first aid before being taken to the hospital.
Recovery of Arms
From the possession of the accused, the police recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges. Preliminary investigations suggest that the gang was planning a major crime in the city. Further interrogation is underway to uncover the gang's network and any other planned activities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) said, "Our team acted swiftly and professionally. The accused is a notorious gang member involved in several cases of robbery and assault. We are interrogating him to get leads on his associates." He added that no police personnel were injured in the exchange.
