Girl Found Dead After Neighbor Questioning in Gwalior

Bhopal: An eight-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in Gwalior’s Bara village on Friday, hours after she was allegedly questioned by a neighbour over the theft of money from a piggy bank. Police have detained the neighbour and launched an investigation.

The girl, Alina, was found dead in her bed on Friday morning. Her family alleged that neighbour Amin Khan had assaulted her after accusing her of stealing money from his house on Thursday evening.

According to police, Khan suspected the girl after discovering money missing from a piggy bank. The child was later questioned and allegedly admitted to taking the cash and disclosed where it had been hidden.

The family claimed the neighbour beat and mistreated the girl during the questioning. Some residents, however, told police they saw the questioning but did not witness any assault.

When Alina failed to wake up on Friday morning, her family found her unresponsive and informed police. Injury marks were noticed on her body, prompting police to call a forensic team to the spot.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination by a panel of doctors to ascertain the cause of death.

Police said injury marks had been found on the body and that the girl’s father had alleged assault by the neighbour.
