On the night of June 24, around 10:30 pm, advocate Rajdeep Singh Chouhan was sitting in his car with friends near Dabbu Market in Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, when a clean-shaven young man approached the vehicle. The suspect knocked on the windowpane and demanded Rs 50. When Chouhan refused, the man attacked him and snatched his gold chain, weighing about 2.5 tolas, from his neck. The assailant then fled on a motorcycle with an accomplice.
Victim's Account and Police Response
Chouhan, a resident of Model Town Extension, told the police that he and his friends were parked near a property dealer's office at the time of the incident. The Sarabha Nagar police registered a case based on his statement and began examining footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area.
Investigating officer ASI Davinder Singh said, "Based on the victim’s statement, a case was registered and a probe was initiated. We assure that the suspects will be identified and arrested soon."
Community Concern and Investigation
The incident has raised concerns about safety in the area, especially for professionals working late. Police are reviewing CCTV recordings to track the motorcycle's route and identify the perpetrators. No arrests have been made so far, but the investigation is ongoing.
