Gurgaon-Faridabad Road Gang Rape: 2 Van Drivers Arrested After 25-Year-Old's 3-Hour Ordeal
Gurgaon-Faridabad gang rape: 2 drivers arrested

A horrific incident of sexual violence unfolded on the deserted stretches of the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road in the early hours of Tuesday, where a 25-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to a brutal gang rape inside a moving vehicle for nearly three hours. The chilling crime, shrouded by dense fog and the biting midnight cold, saw the victim's cries for help go unheard until she was thrown out of the van, injured and traumatized.

Sequence of a Nightmare: From Argument to Abduction

According to the Faridabad police, the chain of events began on Monday night around 8:30 PM when the woman left her home following an argument with her mother. She informed her sister that she was heading to a friend's house and intended to return in a few hours. However, her plans got delayed, and she started her journey back close to midnight.

With public transport unavailable at that hour, the woman accepted a lift in what appeared to be a van. Unbeknownst to her, two men were already inside the vehicle. Instead of taking her to her destination, the drivers allegedly diverted the route towards the isolated sections of the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road.

A Three-Hour Ordeal in a Moving Prison

The van, identified as a Maruti Suzuki Eeco, drove beyond the Hanuman temple on the stretch, navigating through fog-covered, lonely pockets. For nearly three hours, the woman was held captive inside the moving vehicle as it traversed the desolate roads of Faridabad.

Investigators stated that the woman screamed repeatedly for help during her ordeal. However, the combination of poor visibility due to dense fog, the severe cold, and negligible road traffic meant her pleas were lost in the night. The family's complaint alleges that the two men took turns to rape her inside the van.

Brutal End and Swift Police Action

The nightmare culminated around 3 AM near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar. The accused allegedly pushed the woman out of the van while it was still in motion. The impact caused serious facial injuries, requiring 12 stitches. Despite her injuries, she managed to contact her sister, who rushed her to a hospital in Faridabad.

While doctors suggested a transfer to a Delhi hospital, the family admitted her to a private facility in the city. A day after the crime, the Sector 48 crime branch arrested two van drivers, natives of Jhansi and Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. The police have seized the vehicle used in the crime.

A case has been registered at Kotwali police station under sections 70(1) (gang rape), 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (acts committed by multiple persons) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The identities of the accused have been withheld as the survivor is yet to formally identify them in a test identification parade, which police say will be conducted to ensure a fair trial. Further investigation is underway.
