Gurgaon Teen Dies by Suicide, Leaves Note Alleging Harassment

A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday at her residence in Khoh village, Gurgaon, leaving behind a two-page suicide note. According to police, no one was present at home at the time of the incident.

Incident Details

The girl's father, who runs a grocery shop, stated that he returned home around 1:30 pm for lunch and discovered his daughter dead in her room. The family immediately informed the authorities, and the body was sent for an autopsy. The family has alleged harassment as the reason for the suicide.

Family Background

Police reported that the girl lived in the city with her parents and an elder brother. Her mother works as a teacher at a private school. The victim was a Class 12 student.

Contents of the Suicide Note

In the note, the girl expressed her affection for a youth and stated that she never harbored any ill intention towards him. She wrote that her feelings for him were genuine, but he constantly doubted her. The girl repeatedly apologized, saying she did not know how to cope with being continuously questioned and looked down upon by the youth, whom she had known for nearly a year, as well as by others. She felt misunderstood and did not want people to disrespect her. She also mentioned an incident in which she was allegedly harassed and abused at her tuition class by a friend.

Police Investigation

Police are investigating the case from all angles. They have contacted the boy mentioned in the note and retrieved chats related to the victim that he shared with his friends. The Station House Officer (SHO) of IMT Manesar police station said, “We have received a formal complaint and legal action will follow post detailed investigation.”
