A tragic incident in the holy city of Haridwar resulted in the death of a parking lot employee following a violent altercation over parking fees. The victim, identified as 55-year-old Sahdev Kumar, was allegedly run over by two men from Haryana on Saturday afternoon.
Dispute Over Fees Escalates to Violence
The fatal event unfolded around 2 pm on Saturday at the exit gate of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay parking facility. According to police, the accused individuals, Vishal Kumar and Suraj Singh, both residents of Sonipat in Haryana, had come to Haridwar to drop a relative. A dispute arose when they reached the exit gate, reportedly over the parking fees.
The argument quickly turned violent. The accused broke through the barricade and, in a shocking act, deliberately rammed their vehicle into Sahdev Kumar, who was on duty at the gate. They then fled the scene, leaving the manager critically injured on the spot.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries After Referral
Sahdev Kumar, a resident of Bahadrabad in Haridwar, was initially rushed to the district hospital for treatment. However, as his condition continued to deteriorate, doctors referred him to a specialised medical centre in Dehradun for advanced care. Despite efforts to save him, Sahdev Kumar died during treatment.
Senior police officials confirmed the sequence of events. SHO City Police Station Ritesh Sah stated that the vehicle involved in the crime has been successfully recovered from the Bahadrabad toll plaza. The police are actively pursuing the accused and expect to apprehend them soon.
Police Await FIR, Promise Swift Arrests
The investigation is currently underway. Police authorities are awaiting a formal complaint from the victim's family to register a First Information Report (FIR) officially.
