Haryana Bureau FIR Against BJP MLA Family for Illegal Colony

Rohtak: The Haryana state enforcement bureau has registered an FIR against nine individuals, including family members of BJP MLA Ghanshyam Saraf, for allegedly developing an illegal colony on agricultural land in Bhiwani district. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Bhiwani district town planner Narender Nain.

Details of the Illegal Development

The complaint alleges that an unauthorized colony was carved out over 4.2 acres of land in the revenue estate of Bhiwani Loharu, near Jui feeder on Bhiwani-Tosham Road. This area falls within the notified urban area limits. According to the complaint, the owners carried out illegal subdivision of agricultural land, constructed damp proof courses (DPCs), and developed a road network without obtaining the mandatory license under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975.

Legal Provisions and Accused

The FIR was registered under Sections 3, 7(i), 7(ii), and 10 of the Act. Those named include MLA Saraf's wife Premlata, Mohit Goyal, Manisha, Nirmala, Mayadevi, Rachna, Shweta, Aman Garg, and Manisha Garg, who are stated to be the owners and developers of the land. Officials stated that these violations carry a penalty of up to three years imprisonment.

The FIR noted that the illegal colony activities continued even after official warnings. The department issued a show-cause notice on June 27, 2025, followed by a restoration order on July 10, 2025, directing the landowners to restore the land to its original condition.

Police Action and Response

A Bhiwani police spokesperson said that further action will be taken based on findings regarding the extent of violations and the involvement of each accused. MLA Saraf was not available for comments despite repeated attempts to reach him on his cellphone.
