Hazaribag police arrested a drug peddler from the Barkatha market area near the Budhiya Mata temple on Sunday, seizing brown sugar and cash. The accused, identified as Kundan Kumar Pandit, was taken into custody following a tip-off.
Details of the arrest
Barhi SDPO (in-charge) Md Armanul Haque stated that Hazaribag SP Aman Kumar received intelligence about a person selling narcotics near the temple in Ichak block, on the main road connecting Barkatha market to Barwa. A special team was formed to investigate the case, leading to the arrest of Pandit. The police seized five grams of brown sugar, Rs 11,400 in cash, and a mobile phone from the accused.
Legal action
A case was registered against Kundan Kumar Pandit under sections 21(B)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused is currently in police custody as investigations continue. The operation underscores the police's ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
