Rajkot: A tragic hit-and-run incident in Jamnagar on Sunday night claimed the life of a five-year-old girl and left her parents critically injured. The deceased, identified as Abira Sama, 5, succumbed to severe head injuries sustained in the collision.
Accident Details
The accident occurred near Kalawad Gate when a luxury car traveling from the opposite direction struck the motorcycle carrying Abira, her father Israel, and her mother Rukhsad. The family was heading towards the ST Division at the time of the incident.
Immediate Aftermath
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Abira's uncle, Sajid Chauhan, 30, at Jamnagar City A Division police station, the impact threw all three riders off the motorcycle. The driver of the luxury car then fled the scene. Sajid, who was following the family on another motorcycle, rushed Abira to the hospital with the help of a bystander. However, the doctor on duty declared her dead upon arrival.
Injuries and Treatment
Israel suffered multiple injuries, including broken legs, a fractured rib, and injuries to his lungs and abdomen. Rukhsad sustained a fracture in her right leg and a head injury. Both are currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.
Legal Action
The police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver under Sections 106(1), 281, and 125(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Investigators are actively searching for the driver and have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning eyewitnesses to identify the vehicle and its driver. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
