Hyderabad Police Chief Launches Special Probe Team

Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy has taken decisive action in Hyderabad. He formed a Special Investigation Team this week. This SIT will handle two sensitive cases involving objectionable content.

Two Cases Under Scrutiny

The first case stems from a complaint by senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan. He lodged this complaint on January 10. Hyderabad's Central Crime Station registered the case against certain media outlets based on his allegations.

The second case originated in Narayanpet district. Maddur police registered it against an individual. This person allegedly posted objectionable content on social media targeting the Chief Minister.

SIT Composition and Leadership

DGP Reddy issued formal orders on January 12. The eight-member SIT will operate under the direct supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar. Joint Commissioner N Swetha will lead the team's daily operations.

The investigation team includes several senior officers:

  • Yogesh Gautam, DCP of Chevella
  • K Venkata Lakshmi, DCP for Administration in Hyderabad
  • V Aravinda Babu, DCP of Cybercrime in Hyderabad
  • B Pratap Kumar
  • G Guru Raghavendra, Additional SP for Vigilance and Enforcement
  • An ACP from the Central Crime Station
  • C Shankar Reddy, Inspector from the Counter Intelligence Cell

Clear Mandate from the Top

Director General Reddy gave specific instructions to the newly formed team. He directed them to complete the investigation promptly. The DGP emphasized filing charge sheets without unnecessary delay.

Maintaining the highest professional standards remains crucial throughout this process. The police chief expects thorough and competent handling of both cases. This SIT formation demonstrates the department's serious approach to content-related offenses.
