A high-level review meeting focused on strengthening law and order and combating organised crime was convened on Wednesday at the Dhanbad collectorate. The session, held in the police headquarters auditorium, brought together top police officials from across the zone under one roof.
Key Focus on Curbing Organised Networks
The meeting was presided over by Inspector General of Police (IG) Sunil Bhaskar. In attendance were the superintendents of police from seven districts: Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Ramgarh, Koderma, Hazaribag, and Chatra. The primary agenda was a thorough assessment of the current security situation and the formulation of robust strategies to effectively dismantle organised criminal operations in the region.
Detailed deliberations centered on tightening the noose around established crime syndicates and accelerating legal action against repeat offenders. IG Bhaskar issued clear directives to the district police heads, mandating strict surveillance of criminal activities and the expedited resolution of pending court cases.
Chatra Model to be Replicated Across Zone
Addressing the press after the conclave, IG Sunil Bhaskar commended the police teams across all seven districts for their efficient performance. He highlighted a marked improvement in the pace of case disposal and affirmed that concerted efforts are underway to control crime and ensure the swift arrest of culprits.
The IG specifically pointed to the successful actions taken in Chatra district as a benchmark. There, properties belonging to organised crime syndicates were confiscated, a move aimed at crippling their financial strength. Bhaskar declared this 'Chatra model' would now be replicated in other districts of the zone.
Sustained Strategy to Weaken Criminal Economy
Elaborating on the future course of action, the IG informed that similar property seizure drives will be systematically carried out against members of organised crime gangs in all districts. The police are working continuously to identify and confiscate illegally acquired assets, thereby weakening the economic backbone of criminal elements.
In another significant move, Bhaskar revealed that a list of criminals currently out on bail has been prepared. These individuals are now under constant police surveillance to prevent them from returning to illegal activities and to ensure they comply with bail conditions.
The meeting underscores a renewed and coordinated push by the zonal police leadership to create a safer environment by targeting both the personnel and the profits of organised crime.
