A police team led by Inspector Paramjit Singh Virdi, SHO of the city police station, busted an illegal drug de-addiction centre on Chabal Road in Tarn Taran on Thursday evening. The centre was being run without proper authorization, according to police officials.
Accused Identified
The drug de-addiction centre was operated by Sarabjit Singh, alias Sunny, a resident of Sultanwind Street, New Azad Nagar, Amritsar, and Rana Pratap Singh, a resident of Street No. 1, Antaryam Colony, Amritsar. SHO Paramjit Singh confirmed that Rana Pratap Singh has been arrested, while a raid is underway to apprehend Sarabjit Singh.
Location and Legal Action
This illegal facility was being run from a house in Jarmastpur village. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law. The police are investigating the extent of the operation and any possible links to larger drug networks.
Inspector Paramjit Singh stated, 'We received a tip-off about the illegal centre and acted swiftly. One suspect is in custody, and we are confident of arresting the other soon.'
