Imposter Arrested at Kanpur Exam Center on First Day of LT Grade Test
Kanpur police caught a Jharkhand-based imposter on Saturday. The arrest happened at AB Vidyalaya on Mall Road. This center was hosting the two-day LT Grade examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Biometric Matching Raises Red Flags
The first shift biometric matching at 10:50 am triggered suspicions. Arvind Ray, the in-charge of Cantt Police Station, explained the situation. Renu Yadav's biometric data did not match properly during the verification process.
Regional managers Amit Pandey and Jatin Arya from Innovative Agency noticed the discrepancy. They immediately asked the examination center in-charge for KYC documents. When officials compared the KYC details, they found clear differences from the registered candidate information.
Questioning Reveals True Identity
During police questioning, the woman confessed her real identity. She identified herself as Shikha Sahu from Pachamba Goshala in Giridih district of Jharkhand. The imposter admitted she came to take the examination in place of Renu Yadav.
Renu Yadav is a resident of Rajjipur Bandipur in Khaga, Fatehpur district. The imposter stated she agreed to impersonate the candidate for financial compensation.
Police Investigation and Case Filing
Examination center in-charge Pradeep Gupta filed a formal case against both women. Police authorities are now actively investigating the matter. They are tracking connections to the imposter's gang network across different locations.
The arrested woman revealed crucial information during interrogation. She confessed that a man from Patna promised her Rs 5,000 for taking the examination. This payment was offered as compensation for impersonating the registered candidate.
Multi-Station Manhunt Launched
Police traced the mobile location of the Patna-based contact person. His phone signal pinged near Ghantaghar Crossing in the city. This discovery triggered a coordinated manhunt involving multiple police stations.
Authorities are now working to apprehend the mastermind behind this impersonation scheme. The investigation continues as police gather more evidence about the organized nature of this examination fraud.
