The Indore crime branch's special investigation team has made another arrest in connection with the Lawrence gang's extortion and threat network targeting local businessmen. On Saturday, authorities apprehended 26-year-old Sachin, also known as Ved Prakash Sharma, a resident of Mahidpur in Ujjain district.
Role in Threat Network
Sachin is accused of assisting key accused Rajpal Chandrawat and Kuldeep Chauhan in gathering information about businessmen, who subsequently received threats in the name of the Lawrence gang. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into threats issued to builder Vivek Dammani, Chetan Singh Pawar, and Kunwar Singh Bhuria.
Investigation and Arrest
Police traced Sachin based on information provided by previously arrested accused Rajpal Chandrawat. Crime branch teams employed cyber surveillance and local intelligence inputs to locate and arrest him. During preliminary questioning, Sachin allegedly admitted that he, along with Kuldeep Chauhan, conducted reconnaissance of the complainants' residences, offices, properties, and daily movements.
The gathered information was shared with Rajpal Chandrawat for illegal financial gain and later forwarded to gangster Harry Boxer through the Signal app. Crime branch officials emphasized that the Lawrence gang threat cases are being treated as a priority, with continuous action against all individuals involved in the network.
Previous Arrests
Rajpal Chandrawat of Nagda and Sonu alias Ritesh Khangar of Indore had earlier been arrested in the case. Police have registered offenses at the Crime Branch police station in separate cases linked to the threats.
