In a brazen early morning heist, thieves targeted a businessman's apartment in Jaipur, making off with cash and jewellery valued at several lakhs of rupees. The incident occurred in the Murlipura area, sending shockwaves through the local community and prompting a police investigation.
Details of the Murlipura Flat Burglary
The theft took place in the early hours of Friday, between approximately 3 am and 4 am. The targeted residence was a third-floor flat in Ganpati Residency, located within Shiv Colony, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Murlipura police station.
The flat belonged to Mukesh Sharma, a dry fruit businessman based in Bengaluru. At the time of the burglary, Sharma and his family were away from Jaipur, a fact the miscreants seemingly exploited. Police officials believe the thieves specifically chose the flat knowing it was unoccupied.
Modus Operandi and Stolen Items
To gain entry, the burglars forcibly broke the lock on the main door. Once inside, they proceeded to force open cupboards and storage units within the house. After ransacking the premises, they fled with a significant haul.
The stolen items included:
- Gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 6 lakh
- About 1.5 kilograms of silver
- Cash amounting to Rs 70,000
The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to be several lakhs of rupees, marking a substantial loss for the owner.
Discovery and Police Response
The burglary was discovered on Friday morning when alert neighbours noticed the broken lock on the flat's door. They immediately informed Mukesh Sharma, who was still out of town. Upon receiving the information, Sharma contacted the Murlipura police station to report the crime.
A police team swiftly reached Ganpati Residency to inspect the crime scene. Officers conducted a preliminary investigation, examining the premises for evidence and clues that could lead to the identification and arrest of the culprits.
