A shocking case of premeditated murder has come to light in Kalyan, where a 35-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her own mother-in-law over a financial dispute. The crime, initially disguised as an accident, was uncovered by police, leading to the arrest of two accused persons.

The victim, identified as Rupali Gangurde (35), was an employee of the Indian Railways. She was found deceased under a bridge in a pool of blood. While the scene was first perceived as that of an accidental death, meticulous police investigation revealed a darker truth. It was a case of cold-blooded, pre-planned murder.
The Motive: A Dispute Over Substantial Gratuity Funds
The investigation pointed to a grim motive rooted in financial gain. Rupali Gangurde's husband, Vilas Gangurde, who also worked with the Indian Railways, had passed away in September. Following his demise, the widow, Rupali, received a significant sum of approximately Rs 9 to 10 lakh as gratuity and other death-related financial benefits.
Police stated that the prime accused, the victim's mother-in-law Latabai, desired a share of this money. This demand allegedly led to a dispute, which culminated in the heinous crime. Latabai reportedly executed the plan with the assistance of a friend.
