Kanpur Liquor Shop Attack Turns Fatal After Alcohol Denial
In a shocking incident of violence, a group of youths allegedly assaulted two men with sticks after being refused liquor at a closed country liquor shop in Bhawanipur village, Bidhnu, Kanpur. The attack occurred on Wednesday night and resulted in the tragic death of one victim during treatment, according to police authorities.

The confrontation erupted when the youths approached the liquor shop while it was closed and demanded alcohol. When their request was denied, they reportedly became aggressive and attacked two individuals present at the location. The victims, identified as Uday Singh alias Baba (53) and salesman Pawan Tiwari, sustained severe injuries from the beating with sticks.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries in Hospital
Uday Singh, who suffered critical injuries in the assault, was rushed to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital for emergency medical care. Despite receiving treatment, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away on Thursday. Pawan Tiwari survived the attack but remains under medical observation for his injuries.
Police Investigation and Charge Upgrades
Initially, police filed charges of attempted murder in their preliminary report following the incident. However, after Uday Singh's death, authorities upgraded the charges to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. DCP South Deependra Nath Chaudhary confirmed the development and revealed a crucial detail in the investigation.
"The CCTV cameras installed at the liquor shop were found switched off at the time of the incident," stated DCP Chaudhary, highlighting a significant obstacle in gathering visual evidence of the attack.
