Kanpur Police File Chargesheet in Lamborghini Hit-and-Run

Kanpur Police have filed a comprehensive 200-page chargesheet against Shivam Mishra, the son of a prominent businessman, in connection with a Lamborghini accident that left six people injured on February 8 this year. The incident occurred near Bhairavghat Crossing on VIP Road, where Mishra, allegedly speeding, lost control of the luxury vehicle.

Details of the Chargesheet

The chargesheet includes crucial evidence such as CCTV camera footage and statements from 10 witnesses. According to police, the evidence clearly establishes that Shivam Mishra was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. The Lamborghini first collided with an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle parked on the roadside before mounting the footpath, causing chaos in the area.

Public Reaction and Arrest

Eyewitnesses reported that angry passersby broke the car's window and forcibly dragged Mishra out of the vehicle. One of the injured individuals, Taufiq, filed a formal complaint against Mishra with Kanpur Police on February 9. In an attempt to deflect responsibility, Mishra's driver, Mohan Lal, submitted an application in court seeking to surrender, claiming that he was driving the car. However, police investigations contradicted this claim, and the chargesheet explicitly states that Shivam Mishra was the driver.

Police Action and Suspension

Following the incident, police commissioner Raghubir Lal suspended the then station in charge, Santosh Gaur, for negligence in handling the case. Shivam Mishra was arrested on February 12 and produced before a court, which subsequently granted him bail. DCP Central Atul Kumar Srivastava confirmed that the chargesheet has been officially filed in the case, marking a significant step in the legal proceedings.

The case highlights the risks of reckless driving and the importance of accountability, even for individuals from affluent backgrounds. The police have emphasized that no leniency will be shown in such matters.
