Kanpur Police Take Action in Cow Slaughter Case Following Viral Video

Police in Kanpur have filed a First Information Report against eight people. This action came after a video showing cattle remains went viral on social media. The incident occurred in Bilhaur town, part of Kanpur district.

Viral Video Triggers Protests and Police Response

A video circulated widely online. It displayed a large number of cattle remains inside a tin shed enclosure. This shed was located behind the Green Palace Guest House. Workers from right-wing organizations like the VHP and Bajrang Dal quickly arrived at the scene.

These protesters created a significant disturbance. They loudly alleged that cow slaughter had taken place at the location. The demonstrators specifically named two individuals: Shakir and Rahman Qureshi. They claimed these men were involved in the illegal activity.

Senior Officials Seal Warehouse and Order Investigation

Joint Commissioner of Police Ashutosh Kumar took immediate note of the situation. He arrived at the spot along with other senior officers. The team included SDM Sanjeev Kumar Dixit, ADCP Kapildev Singh, and ACP Manjay Singh.

Authorities promptly sealed a nearby warehouse believed to be connected to Shakir. They also ordered a post-mortem examination of the cattle remains found on the premises. This step was taken to gather formal evidence.

Police Suspensions and Ongoing Manhunt

Commissioner of Police Raghubir Lal addressed the media regarding the case. He stated the matter was treated with utmost seriousness. As a direct result, four policemen faced suspension for their failure to act.

The suspended officers are Station Officer Ashok Kumar Saroj, Town In-charge Premveer Singh, Beat In-charge Aftab Alam, and Head Constable Dilip Gangwar. Their suspension followed allegations of police collusion and inaction despite prior information.

Police have deployed Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) forces in Bilhaur town to maintain order. The main accused, Shakir and Rahman Qureshi, are currently absconding. A manhunt is underway to locate and arrest them.

Commissioner Lal confirmed that the potential involvement of other policemen is also under investigation. The case remains active as authorities work to apprehend all named individuals.
