Kattakada excise team arrests man with 27g heroin

The Kattakada excise team arrested a 32-year-old man with 27 grams of heroin allegedly intended for distribution in the area. The accused, identified as Azad Hussain, a native of Malda, West Bengal, currently residing on rent in Kottarakkara, was taken into custody from the Manchadi shelter home on Thachottukavu–Moongode road at 4 pm on Thursday.

Surveillance and Arrest

According to officials, Hussain was under surveillance for the past few days following a tip-off regarding his involvement in drug trafficking. Acting on the information, the team intercepted him and conducted a body search. During the inspection, officials recovered the heroin concealed in an envelope kept in the pocket of his trousers.

Investigation Underway

Initial probe revealed that the accused had previously worked in the locality and had returned to the area to deliver the narcotic substance to another person. Officials are now probing the source of the drug and attempting to identify others involved in the network.

The accused was produced before a court later in the day and remanded in judicial custody. The excise team continues its investigation to dismantle the drug supply chain.
