In a swift action, Kaushambi police on Monday apprehended a suspect identified as Suggan, also known as Tharuu, a resident of Nanda Ka Purwa, for allegedly launching a brutal assault on a police constable on April 23. The incident occurred when the constable, who was posted at Tilhapur under Sarayakil police station, had gone to a village to address a complaint.
Details of the Attack
According to police officials, the accused, who was in an inebriated state, attacked the constable with a stick and a sharp-edged weapon, leaving him severely injured. The constable was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The motive behind the attack is under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest the accused was agitated over the constable's intervention in a local dispute.
Police Response and Arrest
Following the attack, a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. A specialized team was formed to track down the assailant, leading to his arrest from a hideout. The police have also recovered the weapons used in the assault.
