Kaushambi police encounter: 4 criminals arrested, one injured

A dramatic police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district led to the arrest of four alleged criminals, with one sustaining gunshot injuries. The incident unfolded on Thursday night near the Patauna bridge area, where a police team acted on a tip about a gang involved in cattle theft.

Police Raid Based on Specific Input

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Kumar, the Manjhanpur police station received credible information about an inter-district gang of cattle thieves operating near the Patauna bridge. Acting swiftly on this input, a police team conducted a raid in the area.

The initial action led to the immediate arrest of three individuals. The arrested men were identified as Firoz, Guddu, and Dilshad, all residents of Karari. During their interrogation, the police learned that another gang member was located separately.

The Encounter and Injury

Upon learning that one miscreant was positioned near Radhavpur Road, the police team moved to surround him. The criminal, later identified as Aryan alias Baratilal, opened fire on the approaching police personnel. In what the police described as retaliatory firing, Aryan was hit and injured.

The injured accused was quickly taken to the district hospital for medical treatment. From the scene, police recovered significant evidence, including a country-made pistol of 0.315 bore, one used cartridge, and one unused cartridge.

Criminal Background and Aftermath

Police investigations revealed that the injured accused, Aryan alias Baratilal, is a resident of Manjhanpur in Kaushambi. He already has three criminal cases pending against him in the Kaushambi district, indicating a history of alleged illegal activities.

The successful operation has led to the busting of what police believe is an active inter-district gang specializing in cattle theft. The arrest of all four members is expected to provide further leads into their network and previous crimes. The condition of the injured accused in the district hospital is being monitored, and all four are now in police custody facing legal proceedings.
