Chittorgarh Murder: Police Arrest Key Accused in BJP Leader's Killing, Land Dispute Motive
Key accused arrested in BJP leader Ramesh Inani murder case

In a significant development in the high-profile murder case of local businessman and BJP member Ramesh Inani, the Chittorgarh Kotwali police have made a crucial arrest. Authorities on Thursday took into custody 37-year-old Bhajnaram, a resident of the Bali police station area in Pali district, for his alleged role in facilitating the killing that took place on November 11.

The Arrest and the Alleged Conspiracy

According to the police, Bhajnaram played a pivotal role by arranging the shooter, Manish Kumar Dubey, for the main conspirator, Ramtaram. Investigators revealed that Bhajnaram was privy to the murder plan as early as 2022. The chilling plot to end Inani's life was allegedly hatched over three long years before its execution in November 2025, with the root cause traced back to a bitter land dispute.

The shooter, Manish Kumar Dubey, a resident of Chitaipur in Varanasi district, Uttar Pradesh, has already been apprehended by the police. The focus now is intensely on nabbing the primary accused, Ramtaram, who remains on the run despite extensive search operations.

Digital Trail and a Sect's Disassociation

Police have built a strong case based on a wealth of digital evidence. Chittorgarh SP Manish Tripathi stated that the coordination between the accused was confirmed through call records, mobile location data, financial transactions, and WhatsApp communications. This digital trail proved critical when Ramtaram sought anticipatory bail. The court rejected his plea after police presented details of the land dispute and evidence of his contact and monetary links with the hired shooter.

In a notable development, the Ramsnehi sect has publicly severed ties with Ramtaram. Following the murder allegations, the head of the sect expelled him and issued an official letter stating he no longer has any connection with the sect's centre at Chittorgarh Ramdwara. Ramtaram was previously associated with this sect.

Manhunt Intensifies for Main Accused

With the bail plea rejected, police have intensified efforts to capture Ramtaram. Multiple specialized teams have been formed to track him down. Raids have been conducted at locations linked to his relatives in Indore, but the accused has successfully evaded arrest so far.

The murder was executed brazenly on a public road. Ramesh Inani was shot dead on November 11 while riding his scooter from his home to his office on Maharana Pratap Setu Marg in Chittorgarh. The victim's family had initially named Ramtaram, identified as a saint from the Ramdwara on Bundi Road, as a suspect. Subsequent interrogation of arrested individuals and methodical evidence collection by the police have solidly reinforced this allegation, painting a picture of a premeditated crime born from a protracted dispute.
