Kochi Man Dies in Bike Crash on Coastal Road After Swerving to Avoid Pedestrian
A tragic accident claimed the life of a young man in Kochi on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred on the scenic Chellanam-Fort Kochi coastal road, a route popular with locals and tourists alike.

V J Shahul, a 24-year-old resident of Manassery, was riding his motorcycle along the coastal road. Around 10:30 AM, near the Thommasery Ground area, a pedestrian suddenly began crossing the road. Shahul attempted to steer his bike to avoid a collision with the person.
In the process, he lost control of the two-wheeler. The motorcycle then veered off and crashed forcefully into a nearby electric pole. The impact of the collision was severe.
Immediate Response and Fatal Outcome
Shahul sustained critical head injuries from the fall. Fortunately, officials from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) were passing by the accident site at that moment. They acted quickly and rushed the injured man to a private hospital located in Panayappilly.
Despite the prompt medical attention, Shahul's injuries proved too severe. He succumbed to them shortly after arriving at the hospital. The young man's death has cast a pall of grief over his community in Manassery.
