In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the Koderma district, two school-going minors faced a harrowing ordeal at a local waterfall. The event, which unfolded on Thursday, involved alleged harassment at gunpoint, forced acts, and digital extortion by two unidentified men.
The Terrifying Ordeal at Vrindaha Waterfall
The victims, a young girl and boy, had visited the scenic Vrindaha waterfall located under the Jarga panchayat on Thursday morning. They traveled to the spot on a motorcycle. As they were preparing to leave and return home, their day took a nightmarish turn. Two unidentified men intercepted them, seized the keys to their bike, and held them captive at gunpoint.
The assailants then escalated the terror. They allegedly forced the terrified students into compromising positions with each other. In a calculated move to blackmail them, the accused filmed the entire encounter on a mobile phone. With the video as leverage, they then demanded a sum of Rs 10,000 from the minors, threatening to circulate the footage on various social media platforms if the money was not paid.
Digital Extortion and Police Complaint
Frightened for their safety and reputation, the boy managed to call his friends over the phone to arrange the money. Under duress, he transferred Rs 4,635 to the accused using the UPI payment system. Only after receiving this amount did the two men flee the scene, leaving the traumatized students behind.
The matter came to light a day later, on Friday, when the minors gathered the courage to approach the authorities. They lodged a formal complaint detailing the entire incident at the Tilaiya police station. Based on their statement, the police have initiated a serious investigation into the crime.
Police Launch Priority Investigation
Speaking to the media on Friday, Subdivisional Police Officer Anil Kumar Singh confirmed the gravity with which the case is being treated. "An FIR has been lodged at Tilaiya police station, and a special investigative team has been deployed to conduct raids across the region," stated SDPO Singh. He emphasized that, "Considering the gravity of the crime, investigation is being handled with the utmost priority, and the culprits will be arrested soon."
Despite the swift registration of the First Information Report and the formation of a dedicated team, no arrests had been made until Friday evening. The police are actively pursuing all leads to identify and apprehend the two accused men, whose actions have combined physical intimidation with digital crime in a deeply disturbing manner. The incident highlights concerns over safety at isolated tourist spots and the growing menace of cyber-blackmail.
