Kolkata Lake Town: Daughter Alleges Family Plot in Twin Deaths of Mother & Caretaker
Kolkata Twin Deaths: Daughter Alleges Family Murder Plot

A shocking case of alleged family conspiracy has emerged from Kolkata's Lake Town area, where the mysterious deaths of a 57-year-old woman and her 78-year-old male caretaker have led to murder accusations against close relatives. The Kolkata Police have initiated a probe based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman's daughter, who is pursuing an MSc in Biochemistry.

Bodies Found in Kalindi Housing Estate

The chain of events began on December 30, when residents of Kalindi Housing Estate in Lake Town suspected foul play and alerted the police. Officers recovered two bodies from the premises and sent them to RG Kar Hospital, where records stated both victims were 'brought dead'.

A senior police officer described a grim scene. The body of the 78-year-old caretaker was maggot-infested and extremely rotten, indicating he had died several days earlier. In contrast, the body of the 57-year-old woman suggested a more recent death. "Since she was dependent on the elderly man, it seemed that she could not fend for herself and passed away," the officer stated.

Daughter's Allegations of Neglect and Conspiracy

When police moved to register a suo motu case, the deceased woman's young daughter and sister objected, demanding a murder complaint instead. The daughter's written complaint paints a picture of long-term neglect and a calculated family plot.

The complaint alleges that the victim had been living apart from her family since 2021. During the COVID-19 period, she was allegedly persuaded to move to the Kalindi Housing Estate flat, which belonged to her father. This property was originally purchased by her grandparents, and the move happened without the daughter's knowledge.

The complainant stated her mother had a history of serious illness and multiple surgeries and was neglected for years, including a lack of financial support for her maintenance. The daughter claims she only learned of her mother's location in 2025 and attempted to bring her back, but her mother refused.

The complaint further alleges that the elderly caretaker living with the woman prevented her from leaving and subjected her to torture, acting in coordination with her 65-year-old father. It names the father, an aunt, and the victim's 96-year-old grandmother as being involved in the twin 'murders'.

Police Investigation and Pending Reports

Based on the complaint against the father's kin, who currently reside in Thakurpukur, the Lake Town Police have lodged a murder case and are investigating. However, the initial post-mortem report has complicated the matter, concluding that both deaths were due to natural causes.

The final picture awaits the viscera report, which is still pending. The police are now investigating the allegations of long-term neglect and the circumstances that led to the two individuals being found dead in the Lake Town flat, reconciling the medical findings with the serious accusations made by the daughter.
