A 46-year-old man from Kollam district, who had been evading police for months, was finally apprehended in connection with a violent attempted murder case in Kochi.

Final Arrest in October 2025 Attack Case

A special team from the Kannamaly police station made the arrest on Saturday, bringing the last wanted individual in the case into custody. The arrested man has been identified as Rojan Paul, a resident of Neendakara in Kollam.

Details of the Violent Incident

The case dates back to October 6, 2025, when a heated argument escalated into a severe assault. According to the police investigation, the prime accused in the case, Antony Basil, was sitting on a motorcycle parked near the Kattiparambu bus stop.

The motorcycle belonged to a native of Kumbalanghi. When the owner questioned Basil about why he was sitting on the parked vehicle, it sparked a verbal altercation. This argument quickly turned violent.

Antony Basil, along with a gang that included Rojan Paul, allegedly launched a brutal attack on the man from Kumbalanghi for simply questioning him. The assault was severe enough for the police to register it as an attempt to murder case.

Lengthy Police Pursuit Ends

Following the incident, the Kannamaly police initiated a thorough investigation. They succeeded in arresting all other individuals involved in the attack, except for Rojan Paul.

Paul had managed to evade capture and was on the run, forcing police to form a special team to track him down. The persistent efforts of this team culminated in his arrest on Saturday, effectively closing the active search in this particular case.

The arrest underscores the police's commitment to pursuing all individuals involved in serious crimes, regardless of the time elapsed. The case remains under investigation as legal proceedings move forward.
