A 45-year-old man was discovered hanging in a lodge in Chas, Bokaro, on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Lakshman Sao, a resident of Jayaprakash Nagar in Dhanbad district, who worked as a land dealer.
Lodge employees alerted the police after a foul smell began emanating from the room where Sao had been staying for the past three days. When authorities forced open the door, they found him hanging from the ceiling fan. Sao's body had significantly decomposed, suggesting he had died a couple of days earlier.
Vedant Shankar, Assistant Superintendent of Police in Chas, stated, "Preliminary investigation indicates it is a case of suicide. However, we are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of death."
