A shocking case of betrayal and extortion has emerged from Lucknow's Rajajipuram area, where a woman has leveled serious allegations of blackmail, theft, and death threats against her former driver. The accused, identified as Hanuman Singh, allegedly exploited his employer's trust to commit a series of crimes over time.
Trust Betrayed: From Driver to Blackmailer
The complainant stated that Hanuman Singh, a resident of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, had been employed as her driver for approximately two and a half to three years. Over this period, he gained her confidence. Citing his mother's need for cancer treatment, Singh reportedly borrowed a sum of around Rs 5 lakh from the woman, over and above his regular salary.
The situation took a sinister turn when Singh quit his job some time ago. After his departure, the woman and her family conducted a check of their household items. They discovered that valuable gold jewellery and approximately Rs 50,000 in cash were missing, allegedly taken by the former employee.
Escalation to Threats and Demands
The matter did not end with the theft. According to the police complaint, Singh then began harassing the woman over the phone. He resorted to blatant blackmail, claiming that he possessed obscene photos and videos of her. The accused driver demanded Rs 5 lakh from her, threatening to publish the compromising material on social media to defame her if she did not comply.
The threats escalated further, with the accused also allegedly threatening to kill the woman. Fearing for her safety and reputation, the victim finally confided in her family about the entire ordeal.
Police Action and Ongoing Probe
The family of the woman approached the police and filed a formal complaint detailing the sequence of events—from the borrowed money and theft to the subsequent blackmail and death threats. Kuldeep, the Inspector at Talkatora police station, confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is actively underway.
"An investigation is underway, and the accused will be arrested soon," stated Inspector Kuldeep, assuring that the police are working on the case. The authorities are pursuing leads to locate and apprehend Hanuman Singh, who is currently absconding.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that can arise in employer-employee relationships and highlights the severe consequences of trust being manipulated for criminal gain. The Lucknow police's prompt action is now crucial in delivering justice to the victim.
