Man Arrested for Killing Partner's Son in Pune

The Pune Rural police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old private company worker at Ranjangaon MIDC on charges of beating his live-in partner's three-year-old son to death. The incident occurred on Wednesday in their rented room at Karegaon in Shirur, approximately 78km from Pune. The boy's mother, aged 25, filed a complaint with the Ranjangaon MIDC police.

Background of the Accused and Victim's Family

According to an officer from the Ranjangaon police, both the woman and the accused hail from Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh. The woman is married and has two sons. Her husband and elder son reside in Madhya Pradesh, while she moved to Shirur with her younger son. She works at a private company in MIDC, where she met Devanshu Sahu. They subsequently began living together.

The Allegations

In her complaint, the woman stated that Sahu pressured her to send her son back to her husband and marry him. He allegedly abused both her and her son. The officer noted, "The woman was not ready to marry Sahu because he was an alcoholic."

Sequence of Events Leading to the Murder

On Wednesday, Sahu told the woman he would stay home and not go to work. In the evening, he called the woman on her supervisor's mobile phone and informed her that her son had died. When the woman rushed to the room, she discovered her son lying on the floor. Police reported that Sahu had punched the boy in the face, resulting in his death.

Arrest and Legal Action

The accused fled the scene after the incident. However, police traced him and arrested him on murder charges. The officer confirmed, "Sahu had fled from the spot. We traced him and arrested him on the charge of murder."
