Trichy: A 44-year-old man from Tiruvarur district died after being hit by a motorcycle while walking on the roadside in Trichy on Thursday night.
Incident Details
The deceased, identified as M Aruldoss from Uthirankudi near Kudavasal, was in Trichy for some work. Around 10pm on Thursday, he was walking along the Madurai-Trichy road towards the Integrated Bus Terminus when a motorcyclist negligently approached him from the opposite direction and rammed him.
Injuries and Medical Response
Aruldoss sustained severe injuries to his head and face. He was rushed to Trichy Government Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead on arrival. The motorcyclist, identified as D Selvakumar from Nagamangalam, sustained an injury to his left hand and was admitted to the hospital.
Legal Action
Following a complaint by Panjapur VAO Milton Samuel, Traffic South police registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving causing death. An autopsy was conducted on the body, after which it was handed over to Aruldoss's family on Wednesday.
