Man dies in Ratlam after cow dung dispute escalates

A 50-year-old man died after his neighbours allegedly attacked him with swords and iron rods following a dispute over dumping cow dung in Sarwad Jamunia village, Ratlam district. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning under Bilpank police station limits.

Details of the Incident

According to the victim's family, 48-year-old Rajubai Gurjar went near her house to dump cow dung in a pit. Women from the neighbouring house of Amarsingh Gurjar objected and an argument ensued, which quickly escalated into a violent clash. Amarsingh's sons allegedly attacked Rajubai, her son Vimal, and her husband Kailash.

Kailash succumbed to his injuries after the attack. Rajubai lost four fingers while trying to save her husband. Their son Vimal sustained head injuries, police said.

Allegations and Police Response

Vimal alleged that Amarsingh, his sons Omprakash and Anil, along with women from their family, attacked them with swords and iron rods. He claimed that the dispute was over ownership of the area behind their house, which the neighbours insisted was meant to be used as a pathway.

Bilpank police station in-charge Ayyub Khan stated that a case was initially registered for attempt to murder against six individuals. However, after Kailash's death, murder charges were added. Police have taken two accused into custody and are searching for the remaining suspects.

Legal Proceedings

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are gathering evidence to build a strong case against the accused. The incident highlights how minor disputes can escalate into tragic outcomes, underscoring the need for conflict resolution mechanisms in rural areas.
