A 55-year-old man lost his life in a heartbreaking accident at Thane railway station on Tuesday evening. The unidentified individual slipped into the dangerous gap between two coaches of a suburban train, leading to fatal consequences.
Evening Tragedy on Platform 5
The incident unfolded around 6 pm on Platform 5 of Thane station. A Dadar–Kalyan local train had just arrived when the man fell into the narrow space between carriages. Railway officials and police personnel rushed to the scene immediately after spotting him trapped beneath the wheels.
Authorities detained the train to facilitate rescue operations. They pulled the man out from his precarious position and transported him to a nearby hospital. Doctors at the medical facility examined him thoroughly but could only declare him dead upon arrival.
Senior Inspector Archana Dusane of the Thane railway police confirmed the fatality. She stated that investigators are working diligently to establish the identity of the deceased man. The exact circumstances remain unclear – whether he was attempting to board the train or alight from it when the accident occurred.
Second Accident Compounds Commuter Woes
In a separate incident later that night, another accident added to the railway chaos. Around 9 pm, an unidentified woman sustained serious injuries in an accident between Thane and Kalwa stations. Emergency responders rushed her to a local hospital for treatment.
These back-to-back incidents created significant disruption across suburban train services on this crucial route. Commuters faced substantial delays throughout Tuesday night, with many reporting wait times of 30 to 40 minutes beyond their usual schedules.
The dual accidents highlight ongoing safety concerns on Mumbai's crowded suburban railway network. Thousands of passengers rely on these services daily, making such incidents particularly alarming for regular commuters.
