In a shocking incident of road rage in Telangana's Meerpet area, a middle-aged man was dragged on the bonnet of a car for nearly two kilometers. The incident occurred on Monday evening when the victim, identified as 45-year-old Ravi Kumar, got into an argument with the car driver over a minor traffic dispute.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the altercation began near a busy intersection when Ravi Kumar allegedly hit the car's side mirror while passing on his motorcycle. The car driver, whose identity is yet to be revealed, confronted Ravi, leading to a heated exchange. In a fit of rage, the driver accelerated his vehicle with Ravi clinging onto the bonnet.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car sped through the streets, with Ravi desperately holding on as onlookers shouted for the driver to stop. The car finally halted after covering about two kilometers, near a police checkpoint. The driver attempted to flee but was apprehended by bystanders and later handed over to the police.
Police Action
The Meerpet police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder, rash driving, and causing hurt. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and is reported to be stable.
Senior police officials have assured a thorough investigation. "We have identified the car owner and are currently questioning the suspect. Strict action will be taken against the perpetrator," said a police spokesperson.
