Man Electrocuted Installing Birthday Banner for Ex-Deputy Mayor

A 28-year-old man from Kalyan died after being electrocuted while putting up a birthday banner for former deputy mayor Bhagwan Bhalerao in Ulhasnagar on Thursday night, police said.

The deceased, identified as Ravi More, was installing the banner near Veer Bhavan Building in Ulhasnagar No. 2 when he allegedly came into contact with a live overhead electric wire. The electric shock caused him to collapse on the spot.

According to police, More's co-worker and local residents rushed him to Central Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police registered an accidental death report, or ADR, and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials examined the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.

No Permission Granted for Banner Installation

Meanwhile, sources in the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation said no permission was granted for the installation of the banner, raising questions about compliance with civic regulations.

The incident has sparked concerns over safety protocols and unauthorized banner installations in the city. Authorities are looking into whether any negligence contributed to the tragedy.

More's family has been informed, and further investigations are underway to determine liability.
