Man held with 408 liquor bottles worth Rs 1.60 lakh

A resident of Harhad village under the Rajpur police station limits was arrested on charges of transporting 408 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), valued at approximately Rs 1.60 lakh, late Tuesday night, police said.

Accused Identified

The accused was identified as Sonu Kumar Yadav, police added.

Police Operation

Officer in-charge of the Sadar police station Awadhesh Kumar Singh said, “Chatra SP Animesh Naithany received information that a huge consignment of illegal liquor was being transported to Bihar from Chatra. A team from the Sadar police station launched a vehicle checking drive near Sanghri Valley on the Chatra-Gaya Main Road. A suspicious car was stopped. During the search, 408 bottles of IMFL hidden in 17 boxes were recovered from the car’s boot.”

Escape and Hunt

One Pawan Kumar Yadav managed to escape, taking advantage of the dark. A hunt is under way for him, police added.
